Hello, my name is Duncan Mackay and I am the editor of insideworldfootball, the new unbeatable resource designed to keep you in touch with the planet's favourite sport.
Brought to you by the same team that has made insidethegames the world's leading website on the business of the Olympic and Paralympic Movement, insideworldfootball will apply the same principles of
integrity, objectivity and creditability.
Football may be a multi-billion pound industry played in every country in the world but until now there has not been a website like this one, which aims to keep you up-to-date on the business of the sport from around the world. Everyone here at insideworldfootball is really excited about our new website and is confident that we will soon establish ourselves at the top of the league.
There has never been a more exciting time to launch a new site like this. The Champions League is booming, the Premiership continues its march towards global domination and next year football will break new ground when the World Cup is held in Africa for the first time in its history. We will also be focusing closely on the race to host the 2018 and 2022 World Cup which next year will be awarded by FIFA at the same time and is already shaping up as the most exciting race ever with 10 countries, including political superpowers like the United States and Russia, bidding.
Our team of top correspondents, led by David Owen, the former sports editor of the Financial Times, will be travelling around the world over the next 12 months to bring you the inside line on bids from all the countries. He will be joined by Andrew Warshaw, the former Sports Editor of The European, the newspaper that broke the Bosman story in the 1990s, the most significant issue to shape professional football as we know it today, and Mike Rowbottom, who worked at The Independent for 16 years and whose insightful interviews are among the most entertaining and witty in the business.
I have been covering football all my professional life, writing on the Premiership for The Observer and The Guardian. I was at the heart of the Wembley story and was praised for my ground-breaking commentary on the Rio Ferdinand drugs scandal that rocked football. Over the next few weeks we also plan to announce a number of other exciting new signings.
Probably at this stage, it is worth mentioning what we will not be covering. We will not be covering transfer gossip about Franck Ribery and when he is going to leave Bayern Munich, speculating on when Phil Brown will be getting the sack at Hull City, complaining about the standard of refereeing in Serie-A or telling you what Wayne and Coleen are up to. But we will be bringing you a series of exclusive news stories linked to the World Cup and we know we will not be beaten on the quality of our writing.
We have many more exciting features lined up over the next few weeks that we believe will quickly establish insideworldfootball as the number one source of news for the business of football on the web. We also make you a promise: we will never charge you for any of our content or to become a subscriber. Everything on insideworldfootball is free and always will be. It is quick and easy to sign up for our free daily e-alert. Just click here. Enjoy insideworldfootball.
